Getting Started — How Well Do You Know Roblox?

Last updated: April 9, 2026

On this page: Find out what you'll accomplish, take a quick Roblox quiz with your child, and learn why doing this together matters. ~3 min.

What You'll Do in 25 Minutes

Across 6 short pages, you and your child will:

  1. Link your accounts — so you can manage their settings (you'll need a government ID or credit card)
  2. Set a Parental PIN — so only you can change them
  3. Configure content & privacy — control what games they can access and who sees their activity
  4. Set spending & screen time limits — lock these down from the start
  5. Set up chat controls — decide who can message them
  6. Review together — make sure everything's set, practise reporting

Your child knows Roblox better than you. In this walkthrough, they're the guide.

Quiz: Can You Guess the Game?

Try these with your child. They'll enjoy watching you guess.

Your child shows you a game on their screen. It has obstacle courses, players jumping between platforms, and a timer counting down. What type of game is it? It's an Obby (obstacle course) — one of the most popular game types on Roblox. E.g. Tower of Hell, Escape Room.

Your child's avatar is wearing a new outfit. What did they use to buy it? Robux — the virtual currency in Roblox. Roughly 80 Robux costs $0.99 USD. You can set monthly spending limits through parental controls.

Your child says they "got an age check" before they could chat. What does that mean? Since January 2026, Roblox requires an age check (a quick facial scan) before anyone can use chat. It places users into age groups (5-8, 9-12, 13-15, etc.) and they can only chat with similar ages. The scan takes seconds and images are deleted immediately.

After each guess, let your child explain the answer. That's the whole point — they're teaching you their world.

Why Together?

Every other Roblox safety guide is written for parents to read alone. That's the problem.

  • Your child feels respected — they're teaching you something
  • You actually understand what you're configuring
  • The settings stick because you both know why they're there
